Continuous intravenous access is increasingly recommended for cancer patients. Intravenous ports are an undeniable convenience for patients and can be an easy and reliable vascular access for many months or even years. Early and late complications of the intravenous port implantation include, among others, port pocket infection, whose percentage is estimated at 0.8-7.5%.

The presented case concerns a patient with metastatic lung cancer, who suffered an early infection of intravenous pocket port, and who underwent a coronary artery bypass grafting followed by a deep infection of surgical wound 2.5 years earlier.
